1970 First cross-country link installed by at&t between ucla and bbn(military contractor) at 56kbps
1990 WWW released first server in nov 1990.
1992 “Surfing the internet” is coined
1993 white house came online (Clinton) president@whitehouse.gov
1993 WWW grows at a 341,634% rate
1994 Shopping comes online
1994 First banner ad was for the Zima beverage
1995 The Vatican comes on line
1996 Distribution of Indescent materials over the internet briefly outlawed in 1996 but appealed and decided unconstitutional.

You will notice that most of these sites are conceptual in nature. They are interested in the new potential for the web through manipulation of the ideas imbedded in the web and its code. They are not interested in retail aesthetics or traditional design. Remember these are the days before flash or any GUI web-based application. Anything that moves/changes was done in code by hand.
